CARFIN GREYHOUND STADIUM

One of the earliest tracks in the country to open, the Scottish town of Carfin, a short distance from Motherwell, had a greyhound track which was situated at 3° 57' W 55° 48' N and first opened for racing in 1927. The track had a circumference of 440 yards, with Sprints run over 300 yards, Standard Races over 510 and 580 ards, and Distance races over 790 yards.

The track closed for the final time in 1999 and the site on which the former track once stood is now covered by a housing estate.
